On the afternoon of May 25, Prospering Popular Science Creation in Support of Innovation and Development Serial Salons – Seminar on the Development of the Sichuan Science Fiction Industry and Original Works, which was hosted by the China Research Institute for Science Popularization and the China Science Writers Association (CSWA) and organized by the Sichuan Science Writers Association, was held in the academic lecture hall on the 5th floor of the Sichuan Science and Technology Museum. Zhao Yuchang, deputy secretary-general of the Sichuan Science Writers Association, presided over the salon.
Venue of the Seminar
Wu Xiankui, executive director of CSWA and chairman of the Sichuan Science Writers Association, delivered a keynote speech titled Serve the Society with Imagination. He explained the broad space of science fiction creation from the perspective of abundance of imagination since the ancient times of China, great power of imagination and the mission of young popular science and science fiction stars, which won him applause from the science fiction fans.

The science fiction creators from Sichuan University of Media and Communications and East China Normal University delivered keynote speeches from their experience of creation on China’s science fiction industry in terms of its current development trend, difficulties in science fiction creation and the improvement of artistic standards of works.

Well-known science science fiction creators Song Ying and Wang Wenhua commented on the keynote speeches of the young science fiction enthusiasts. They encouraged them to become disseminators of scientific knowledge and the pacemakers of science fiction creation, keep up with the times, and create more and better science works, thus making due contribution to the prosperity of popular science and science fiction.
